Don’t neglect image SEO !
If you are already using WordPress Real Media Library together with Real Physical Media, you probably know that image SEO is really important. Image researches can account for up to 20% of Google’s search traffic. Thanks to the many plugins available, it is quite easy to optimize images for Google on WordPress. In this article I’m shedding light on Image SEO, a plugin WordPress using Artificial Intelligence to optimize alternative texts and filenames.
What does ImageSEO ?
ImageSEO is a freemium plugin for WordPress. As its name suggests, the plugin optimize images for search engines. It uses Artificial Intelligence to automatically give a good name and a relevant alternative text to your images.
When to use it ?
As soon as you are dealing with a lot of pictures or if you need suggestions to fill out your alt texts. You can also use it to know how search engines might be perceiving your images.
How to use ImageSEO ?
Image SEO on upload
There are two different ways to optimize your media with ImageSEO. You can do it on upload. Each time you upload a media, the plugin automatically generates an alternative text and file name. That’s very useful for two reasons:
- You get to know how your images are perceived by Search Engines
- You don’t have to struggle any longer with your images alt and names.
The plugin does 85% of the job. Keep in mind that what Artificial Intelligences do is not perfect (yet). If you are looking for the perfect alternative texts, you will probably need to slightly correct the date provided by the plugin. The freemium and the on-upload option is very handy for blogger. If you are a frequent writer or have several blogs, they also have a monthly offer starting at 4,99€.
If you are a photographer or use WooCommerce the bulk is more useful !
Library bulking and Search Engines optimization
What I really like with this SEO plugin is the bulk option. Most part of Real Media Library users have a lot of images to deal with. ImageSEO allows you to process and optimize all of them for SEO.
It means that if you have neglected image SEO for long the plugin will fix the situation. You just need to get an API Key and let run the plugin for a while.
The plugin also works in German, French or Italian.
